The main stresses on an ignition coil are excessive heat and vibration. If the stresses are too high, internal short circuits can occur. Likewise, leaking oil affects the insulations, which can leak through broken oil seals. Also, during engine washes, care should be taken not to hit the ignition coils directly with the high-pressure cleaner, as this can allow water to enter and cause a short circuit. This would cause an ignition coil to become defective. Last but not least, a low voltage supply, for example due to a weak battery, can also lead to faster wear.
In more modern vehicles, a defective ignition coil usually results in a stuttering engine and misfires, since the other ignition coils are still working. In older vehicles, the engine will not start at all if the ignition coil is defective. In both cases, the engine light will come on. Then you should immediately stop the car and call the breakdown service. This is the only way to ensure that no unburned gasoline gets into the catalytic converter, which would destroy it. If an ignition coil within an ignition module is damaged, the entire ignition module must be replaced, otherwise only the individually affected ignition coil is replaced. The replacement should be carried out by experienced personnel, as contact with live components can cause injury. Likewise, the spark plugs must not be damaged when changing the ignition coils and appropriate diagnostic equipment is required.
Who wants to buy an ignition coil, must first clarify whether it is an ignition module or individual ignition coils. Since both variants differ in each case in their form and connections per vehicle, it is recommended to select the vehicle first, so that only suitable offers are still displayed. All offers shown are made of high quality materials, which makes them better and longer withstand the high loads. This slows down the wear and tear and the ignition coils as well as the ignition modules do not have to be replaced so quickly again.
For our range, we rely on the following well-known brand manufacturers to ensure the high quality of parts:
